HOW TO VISIT STOCKBRIDGE SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE
So… you’ve perused our website, read about our majors, checked out our Instagram, and watched a few videos from our YouTube channel. Maybe you even checked out news coverage of our and our alumni's recent accomplishments on our Facebook page. Now it’s time to arrange a visit to see us in person. Stockbridge School of Agriculture is located on the UMass Amherst campus. We’re excited to have you visit both UMass and the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, and we’ve got a lot to show you. You have two options for how to do this.
Sign up for a University Admissions Fall Visit Day on Sunday October 17th or Sunday October 24th. Multiple information sessions and campus tours will be available to prospective students and their families throughout the day. From 10am to 2pm, select departments will also be open to provide up-close tours based on your major of interest.
We recommend signing up for Sunday October 24th because on that date we will be hosting our own Stockbridge Open House and Close-Up Tours of majors in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. Details are below. (Please note that Stockbridge buildings, faculty and staff will not be accessible on Sunday October 17th).
Once you've registered with University Admissions, you'll want to ALSO Register for the Stockbridge Open House and Close-Up Tours. As we get closer to October 24th, Nessim Watson (he/him), our Stockbridge Director of Student Recruitment, will email you with how to find your specific Stockbridge close-up tour.
If the dates for Fall Visit Days don’t work for you, then you can register for a University Admissions tour on the date of your choice. Doing so will also get you reduced cost admission to our famously #1-ranked dining commons. We strongly recommend visiting UMass on a weekday. If you choose to visit on a weekend, you may find that buildings of interest are locked, faculty and staff are off-duty, and students are less available on campus to chat with.
Once you have reserved your spot with UMass Admissions, you should ALSO Register for a Personalized Tour of Stockbridge. Once you register, Nessim Watson (he/him), our Stockbridge Director of Student Recruitment, will reach out to you by email to arrange for your visit to Stockbridge either before or after your University Admissions program.
THE STOCKBRIDGE SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE OPEN HOUSE AND CLOSE-UP TOURS
Our event runs from 10am to 2pm on Sunday October 24th, alongside the University Fall Visit Days programming. You'll be able to drop by Paige Laboratory for a tour of our main building. We'll also be providing different tours based on your major of interest. For example, students interested in Horticulture will want to see our Research Greenhouses, while students interested in Landscaping will want to see our new Design building. At each location on campus, Stockbridge students and faculty will be available to tell you about what we do, and to answer your questions. Remember that you'll need to separately register to attend the Stockbridge Open House and Close-Up Tours.
COVID HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Our campus is doing exceptionally well. Fall 2021 marks our full return to in-person learning and the campus is bustling with activity. So far, 96.9% of our students, faculty, and staff are vaccinated. As a further precaution, all individuals on (or visiting) our campus are required to properly wear face masks while inside buildings. Masks can be removed outdoors, so long as social distancing is possible. Our strategic and organized response to the pandemic continues to produce one of the lowest positivity rates, for both our state and the nation. See the most updated information on our protocols, and our success rate.
