How to Request Event Space at the Agricultural Learning Center
All requests for use of the UMass Agricultural Learning Center (ALC) must be reviewed and approved in advance by our Farm Leadership Team.
The Agricultural Learning Center was established to provide a hands-on, living classroom for students to learn about farming, and the horticulture, arboriculture, plant nursery and landscape industries. Used primarily by students of The Stockbridge School of Agriculture, current programming provides students with skills in organic farming, urban farming, native pollinator habitat conservation, social justice, agronomic crop production, and animal husbandry.
The facility, including a historic and retrofitted barn building, sits on the former site of the Dakin and Wysocki family farms, and supports the work of the UMass Student Farm.
The ALC is located on farmland, at 961 North Pleasant St. in Amherst MA, within walking distance to the heart of the UMass Amherst campus. The building provides seasonal access to running water (i.e. not during cold months), and has electrical power, but no heat source. For larger events, you may set up your own event tent on relatively flat land.
To request any usage of space at the Agricultural Learning Center, please complete the ALC Event Request Form. Requests will be considered in the order received.
