In 2016, in order to become compliant with the Food Safety Modernization Act and to better teach modern aspects of vegetable farming, the UMass Student Farm became certified by the Commonwealth Quality Program (CQP).
As part of our Food Safety Plan, we identified that our wash and pack infrastructure needed to be updated. As a result, we opted to built a portable wash station that would comply with CQP standards and provide us with flexibility to wash and pack produce at both of our farm locations.
