OUR CHICKEN ORDERS ARE CURRENTLLY CLOSED. IN THE SPRING WE WILL UPDATE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT ORDERING FOR THE SUMMER OF 2017. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
The Student Farm raised 125 broiler chickens during the summer of 2016 to add to our production!
These birds were being raised on non-gmo grain and will be pastured in tractors over a dormant vegetable production field that is covered with a crop of buckwheat.
Integrating animals into the vegetable production / land plan is an important contribution to creating a more complete sustainable farming system. Not only is it ensuring a healthier way of living for the bird but also benefits the land by adding fertilizer and eliminating bugs.
The cost is $4.50/pound. Each bird is estimated to weigh between 4-6 pounds.
A $10 deposit per bird is required at time of sign-up. Please make checks out to the UMass Student Farming Enterprise and mail it to:
