Plant & Soil Sciences Graduate Programs at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture

Our graduate faculty, through the Plant & Soil Sciences Graduate Program, provides training, experience, and mentoring in the full spectrum of agricultural and environmental study, including:

  • Plant Physiology
  • Molecular Biology
  • Plant Biotechnology
  • Plant Pathology/Pathogen Ecology
  • Production Technology
  • Soil Science
  • Agricultural Marketing
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Entomology

We offer the following degree paths:

  • Thesis-Based Masters Degree
  • Non-Thesis-Based Masters Degree (On-Campus)
  • Non-Thesis-Based Masters Degree in Soil Science (Off-Campus)
  • PhD Degree with Dissertation Required

We also offer a 5th-Year Masters Degree (Accelerated) Program, available to those with appropriate major backgrounds and credit counts.

Showing Interest

Students wishing to pursue a Thesis-Based M.S. or Ph.D. degree should first contact a member of our faculty to determine the compatibility of his or her research with your interests. Ph.D. candidates should also inquire to determine the availability of funding.  Individuals who have not made such a connection are unlikely to be considered for acceptance.  If you are uncertain as to whom might be the best match for your interests, contact our Graduate Program Director, Dr. Masoud Hashemi.

Students interested in pursuing a Fifth-Year M.S. or a Non-Thesis M.S. should contact our Graduate Program Director, Dr. Masoud Hashemi to discuss degree options. 

Students interested in the Off-Campus M.S. in Soil Science should contact Dr. Baoshan Xing or Dr. Mickey Spokas.
