All applicants applying to Stockbridge School must complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission to the University of Massachusetts or the Common Application.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:
Early Action: November 1 (Applicants will be notified of decision by beginning of January)
Fall Semester: March 15
Spring Semester applications are generally not accepted due to prerequisites required for spring semester courses.
Submit completed application and fee to the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
High School Students
Your application should include:
- personal statement (500 words or less) describing career interests, personal circumstances or academic experiences resume or list of extracurricular activities and work experience
- high school transcript, including first set of senior grades (coursework should include English, Algebra, and at least one lab science course. A foreign language is not required.
- SAT or ACT scores (Stockbridge School College Board number (CEEB) is 3769)
- letters of recommendation (no more than three) from guidance counselors teachers, employers, etc.
Applicants who wish to be considered for both Stockbridge School and a related bachelor degree should contact the Admissions Counselor at the Stockbridge School for specific information.
High School Graduates Who Never Attended College
- follow guidelines for high school applicants, except
- standardized test scores are not required if you have been out of high school five years or more
Applicants with a GED
- follow guidelines for high school applicants, and include your GED test scores
- standardized test scores are not required if your high school class graduated more than five years prior to applying
Applicants who have attended college
~ apply as a Freshman with transfer credits; do not apply as a Transfer
Your application should include:
- personal statement (500 words or less) describing career interests, personal circumstances or academic experiences
- resume or list of extracurricular activities and work experience
- college transcripts
- high school transcript or GED scores, if you have earned fewer than 27 college credits
- SAT or ACT scores only if you have been out of high school five years or less and have earned fewer than 27 college credits
- letters of recommendation (no more than three)
Applicants with a college degree
~ apply as a Freshman with transfer credits; do not apply as a Transfer
Your application should include:
- personal statement (500 words or less) describing career interests, personal circumstances or academic experiences
- resume or list of extracurricular activities and work experience
- college transcripts
- letters of recommendation (no more than three)
Applicants with Learning Disabilities
In accordance with Chapter 766 of the Massachusetts Acts of 1972, you may claim a SAT exemption if:
- you are a learning-disabled Massachusetts resident
- you submit appropriate documentation of your disability

International Applicants
You may only apply for fall admission and must have completed English (non-ESL) composition coursework.
You are required to submit:
- additional documents, including TOEFL scores
- a certified affidavit of financial status
International students not currently studying in the United States must file an International Student Application, available from the Admissions Office or at www.umass.edu/admissions/applying/international.
You may apply as a part-time student if you are interested in taking less than 12 credits per semester.
Part-time Students
Part-time students register for courses in the Stockbridge School Office, 111 Stockbridge Hall, before the first day of classes during either semester. Admittance to any course is on a space available basis.
Part-time students may elect to take classes through the Division of Continuing & Professional Education; 413-545-2414
However, in order to qualify for an associate of science degree through Stockbridge, a student may not take more than nine (9) total credits through Continuing & Professional Education and no more than six (6) credits during any one semester.
Veterans
Veterans are considered under regular admissions policies. All veterans must submit a copy of their DD214 or 2586 to verify potential credits earned for military experience. Do not submit the original, as this document will be needed at a later date to establish eligibility for GI Bill benefits. If still on active duty, submit the copy when you are released.
If you are a current or former member of the United States Military, you should contact the UMass Amherst Veteran Services Office as soon as you start the application process. The staff at Veterans’ Affairs helps Veterans, Guardsmen, and Reservists to access the benefits available to them through
the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) and other programs. They also help students make the transition from active military duty to college, and from college to active military duty.

Books, Supplies & Other Cost
In addition to tuition and fees, you will need to factor expenses for books and supplies into your academic costs. These will vary according to your field of study, but generally average $1000 for the academic year. Personal and transportation expenses usually range from $700 to $1,400 per year. We add these expenses to the costs above and use the total—a figure referred to as your “Cost of Attendance”—to determine your eligibility and need for financial aid.
