Job Title: Wholesale Bedding Plants Manager Department: Wholesale Nursery Reports to: Nursery Sales Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt, Full-Time EEO-1 Job Category: First/Mid-Level Officials & Managers Job Summary: The Wholesale Bedding Plant Manager will negotiate with local and regional nurseries to procure the highest quality Annuals, Perennials and Ornamental Grasses at reasonable pricing within the framework of the Northeast Nursery, Inc. Purchasing Team. This manager will lead by example and demonstrate the highest sense of customer service and professionalism to customers and department employees and coworkers. Manager will also work with the Human Resources Department to determine the proper staffing levels for the Wholesale Nursery Department by attracting, selecting and hiring qualified candidates who meet a variety of KSA’s (knowledge, skills and abilities) for department roles. The Wholesale Bedding Plants Manager will also be responsible for staff training. Candidate must have experience with plant maintenance in a large nursery yard and a keen sense of product merchandizing. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions) Purchasing • Evaluate each supplier's capabilities to deliver a consistent and reliable stream of product to satisfy the performance standards that meet the company's requirements of cost, quality, availability and service • Manage all aspects of assigned vendor relationships to support Northeast Nursery, Inc. Purchasing Team buying objectives • Provide field and purchasing team with updates with trends by suppliers/vendors • Coordinate deliveries to reduce freight costs ensuring all product materials are acquired at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need • Manager will generate and process purchase orders, packing lists, purchase orders for receiving including requesting all credits from vendors. Customer Service • This manager will lead by example and demonstrate the highest sense of customer service and professionalism to customers and department employees and coworkers. • Demonstrate daily customer service excellence via telephone, radio and other communication vehicles • Assist wholesale and retail customers with selections and purchases. • Educate customers on topics such as planting and plant care • Demonstrate follow through skills when interfacing with suppliers, vendors, and customers from purchasing through delivery Plant Maintenance • Water, clean, and assess for disease and insects • Advise for plant spoil when necessary • Monitor, evaluate, and provide preventive and plant health care needs on a daily basis • Department staff has hoses, wands, fertilizer and pruners. Product Merchandizing • Working closely with the Northeast Nursery, Inc. Purchasing Team, the Wholesale Bedding Plant Manager must ensure that products appear in the right store, or company website, at the appropriate time and in the correct quantities in addition to accurately forecasting trends, plan stock levels, and monitor performance. • Works with purchasing team to maximize profits, manage product performance ranges, plans. • Oversee delivery and distribution of stock and deal with suppliers • Maintain a comprehensive and appropriate data base • Control stock levels of plants base on forecasts for upcoming seasons • Gather customer feedback to products Staffing Selection and Management • Manager will also work with the Human Resources Department to determine the proper staffing levels for the department by attracting, selecting and hiring qualified candidates who meet a variety of KSA’s (knowledge, skills and abilities) for department roles. • Work with employees in a professional, courteous and mentoring capacity • On a regular and ongoing basis, provide department employees with feedback on their job performance • Demonstrate effective and clear communication to all employees • Be able to manage conflict well resolving issues successfully to develop and continue to nurture positive employee relations Minimum Qualifications • Four-year degree or equivalent • 2 years of wholesale nursery and commercial buying experience preferred. • Possess knowledge of plants in a variety of different hardiness zones • Knowledge of nursery, irrigation and landscape products • Possess interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills • Private Certification License Cat 29-prefer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or veteran status.

Wage, Salary & Benefits Description:
$40,000.00 Base salary- opportunity for overtime
