Garden Mates LLC is a design and installation company with many new projects on the books for spring 2018! Our designs are filled with exciting plant and hardscape details that are challenging and satisfying to install and maintain. “The seamless circle of the seasons” is our tagline and we strive to create gardens and landscapes that bring beauty and move people in a dynamic process that is always changing. We value organic land care practices and practice honesty and transparency with our customers. We are looking for the right individual to ‘take the ball and run’ with our fine gardening maintenance for the 2018 Landscape Season, and help out with other landscape tasks as needed. We believe no one likes to do the same job every day. At Garden Mates, ‘variety is the spice of life’ and we all participate in every aspect of building and maintaining beautiful landscapes. Duties include: Work with the head designer and other crew members to install new plant material, assist in light masonry construction, and perform fine gardening maintenance tasks such as mulching, weeding, spring and fall clean-ups of residential and small commercial properties. Assist the head designer in small perennial garden installations, ornamental pruning, fine garden maintenance of roses, vegetable gardens, perennials; set up and clean out of window boxes and seasonal containers and assist in wreath making and holiday decorating. Crew member will be asked to work within budgets, safety guidelines, complete paperwork, and be assigned trucks, tools, and equipment. The individual must be a forward thinker, with the ability to see what needs to be done and respond appropriately

Qualifications: The candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude and the desire to grow with the company. We are a small, dynamic company and we expect the candidate to bring something special to the company. The position requires: Horticultural and landscape maintenance experience, Expertise in pruning and planting perennials, shrubs and trees. Solid knowledge of perennials care is required. Some knowledge of construction techniques, grading, and basic hardscape. Experience driving a truck and trailer combo. Operating a skid steer, mini-excavator and tractor is preferred. MA hoisting license a plus but not essential. A MA driver’s license, DOT card (company paid) and safe driving record is required and reliable transportation to work is essential. Crew member should have good communication skills and have the ability to operate all equipment related to property maintenance. A degree in horticulture, landscape design or related field is preferred.
Wage, Salary & Benefits Description:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience with an end of year bonus based on performance. This is a full time, hourly, seasonal position for the 2018 Landscape Season with a start date on or around April 1st through mid-November. After one successful season, candidate is eligible for paid time off, paid holidays and to participate in a company Simple IRA with employer contribution. We have a unique and attractive work week which will be discussed further at time of interview.
