JOB DESCRIPTION: Nursery Supervisor/Foreman Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd., is seeking a dedicated, experienced and professional Commercial Nursery Supervisor/Foreman to facilitate and oversee all of the nursery daily labor force, function and inventory throughout our two nursery properties. Nursery Supervisor/Foreman Dart Real Estate is seeking a self-motivated commercially experienced to take on leadership within our two nursery location operations. This position will oversee the nursery crews at both facilities and will report directly to the Nursery Manager and will communicate all progress, production, and maintenance activities related to the crops, labor, employee safety, property maintenance and housekeeping. Key Responsibilities: • Effectively and efficiently lead and supervise a crew of up to 12 employees • Training, managing and coaching greenhouse/propagation and nursery employees in handling plants, preparing and pulling orders, watering, repotting, inventory organization, sanitation. • Ensure team of employees is working productively and efficiently. • Enforcing Company Safety Policies and regulations, taking disciplinary actions when needed. • Monitoring all aspects of the daily greenhouse, propagation and shade-house operations. • Coordinating with the Nursery Office about daily orders, plant movement and inventory control. • Leading crews of employees in identifying and preparing plants for delivery/pick-up and loading orders onto trucks, checking orders for accuracy and recording all items sold, and inventory control. • Overseeing plant quality during preparation for shipment to ensure the company delivers quality plants to its customers; prep and clean plants as needed. • Inspecting and evaluating crops on a regular basis for quality, readiness and any issues such as diseases, insects and weed pests. • Make decisions with Nursery manager about space utilization and inventory blocking, Plant labeling, and inventory organization according to the Master Grid Layout Plan, Maintaining ease of mobility and location of plants, maintain a Par level of inventory plants based on sales. • Review incoming plant orders and requests, compare to inventory, set aside inventoried items into project holding area, and schedule production and/or purchase of items not in inventory, so as to fill orders as specified and within project timeline, for delivery dates. • Reporting on any problems or inventory shortfalls that will or may require shipping schedule modifications and/or affect plant inventory. • Uphold maintenance and cleanliness of greenhouse, propagation and nursery blocks, general facility organization, sanitation and cleanliness of the facility; Minimize horticultural waste and dumped plants, but maintain strict quality control. • Maintain nursery equipment, tools, structures and vehicles in good working order, and maintain sufficient inventories to efficiently run the facility. • Recommend purchases of relevant materials, plants, supplies and tools related to plant production. • Assist in the planning of facility upgrades, providing feedback, supporting new projects. • Develop and maintain work schedules, Personnel production reports and hold employees accountable. Qualifications and Experience: • 7 years Nursery Experience required. • 3 years or more training and supervising of employees • Bilingual (English/Spanish) • Ability to identify plants as well as, diseases, pests and weeds, and thorough experience in recommending and treating such pests. • Must be able to work safely in a nursery and greenhouse environment, inside and outdoors, in extreme heat, in all weather conditions, around equipment and facilities necessary for plant production and maintenance. • Ability to lift, load up to 75 pounds. • Skills in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment desired. • WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
