Senior Agriculture Scientist
Cambridge Crops, Inc. is an agri-tech company focused on innovations in the food and agriculture industry. We harness the properties of biopolymers to tackle challenges related to pre-harvest, post-harvest and food safety. Our first product is a proprietary natural and edible biomaterial coating to extend the shelf-life of fresh produce. Our product has the potential to reduce the staggering amount of fresh food wasted every year due to spoilage, and reduce the reliance on cold chain. Our technology was originated at Tufts and MIT and published in the peer reviewed journal Nature Scientific Reports and featured on The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and CNN. Responsibilities Cambridge Crops is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and creative PhD. level Scientist. The candidate will supervise scientific experimentations on different fruits and vegetables to test the coating’s efficiency on various applications both in the lab and on field with our pilot partners. The Senior Scientist will: • Develop analytical methods and design key scientific experiments • Provide technical leadership in protein formulation • Effectively communicate research results through technical reports and presentations • Support external collaborations with commercial partners, government/non-profit, and contract organizations • Author scientific publications, contribute to intellectual property filings Qualifications • MS or PhD. in Postharvest Horticulture, Agronomy, Food Science or related field with at least 2 years of industrial formulation development experience • Creativity and problem-solving skills required • Excellent project management skills • Experience with formulation of biomaterials or polymers for drug delivery is preferred • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated abilities to learn new skills and fields, solve challenging scientific and technical problems, think independently, and work collaboratively in teams
